ALEXANDRIA, VA (February 2, 2009) -- NewBay Media LLC has announced that Sanjay Talwani has been promoted to editor of Government Video, the magazine and website of video technology in the public sector. He will also serve as executive chair of the Government Video Technology Expo.
Effective February 1, 2009, Talwani succeeds Mark J. Pescatore, who is moving into the field of public relations.
Previously news editor for sister publication TV Technology, Talwani brings years of experience covering video technology and government at the local, state, and national level to his new role with Government Video.
Talwani first worked for TV Technology from 2001 to 2003 as a reporter, but left to work in the Senate as a press secretary. He returned to TV Technology as news editor and Washington bureau chief in 2007.
Before coming to Washington, Talwani covered the Montana statehouse and local government for the Great Falls Tribune until 2001, and was recognized for Best Government Reporting by the Montana Newspaper Association in 1999.
"At all levels of government, video is being put to new and exciting uses to help keep citizens informed and safe. With his knowledge of video technologies and government operations, Sanjay is the perfect person to lead Government Video into the future," states Carmel King, NewBay Media executive vice president and head of the NewBay Media Video/Broadcast Group.
"From traditional video production applications to high-tech security and awareness solutions for first responders, video is a key part of the public-service mission of government entities big and small across the country," Talwani says.
